Location/Map
The museum is located in downtown Raleigh, between the Capitol and the Legislative Building, at 5 East Edenton Street. The main entrance faces Bicentennial Plaza pedestrian mall linking Jones and Edenton Streets.

From the North or East:
Take the Capital Boulevard exit off I-440 north of Raleigh. Follow the Capital Boulevard (Downtown) designation. Continue south approximately two miles and turn left onto Jones Street. Go three blocks. The museum is on the right.

From the West or South:
From I-40 / I-440 E, take Exit 298 B, South Saunders Street. Keep right and continue to McDowell Street. Proceed north for approximately one mile. Turn right onto Jones Street. Go two blocks. The museum is ahead on the right.

Accessibility
The North Carolina Museum of History is committed to providing a rewarding and enjoyable experience for all visitors. Large-print brochures and sign language interpreters are available (please give us three days' notice for interpreters). To ensure that our guides make the best use of your group's time, please inform us of any special needs your group may have.

Wheelchair Access
Visitors in wheelchairs can enter the museum through the Fletcher Garden entrance, which faces Jones Street. Enter the building through the glass doors facing Fletcher Garden (look for the Liberty Bell replica). Take the elevators to the lobby level (L).

Wheelchairs are available free of charge at the museum information desk.

Parking
Automobiles
Parking weekdays in the Jones/Edenton Street lot for $1.00 per hour. Metered parking along Jones and Edenton Streets.

Free parking on weekends.

Buses
All buses and passenger vans must now park at 2110 Blue Ridge Road (approximately 5 miles from the downtown area), use the driveway beside the main entrance to the Art Museum. It is strongly recommended that drivers and group leaders have radio or telephone contact with their bus driver for pick up. Do not count on your bus drivers as chaperones. The previous bus parking lot has been permanently closed. Contact Capital Area Visitor Services at 919-807-7950 for any additional information regarding bus parking.
