Jon Meacham: What History Tells Us About the Future

Tuesday, May 16, 7 p.m.

The North Carolina Museum of History Foundation Distinguished Lecture Series, 2017 Speaker: Jon Meacham, Author and Presidential Historian

Meacham has profiled Andrew Jackson, Thomas Jefferson and, most recently, George H. W. Bush as part of a body of work that spans from the Founding Fathers to the late 20th century. He is one of America’s most prominent public intellectuals and a skilled raconteur with a depth of knowledge about politics, religion, and current affairs that helps his audiences understand how historical events and current issues intersect. The Pulitzer Prize–winning author is a former editor-in-chief of Newsweek and now serves as a contributing editor to Time magazine, as well as the executive editor at Random House.

This event is presented by the Museum of History Foundation and the News & Observer with additional support from First Tennessee Bank; Goodnight Educational Foundation; the Sloan Family Foundation; the Sherrill Fund; the Smith Family Foundation; Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth B. Howard; and Mr. and Mrs. Paul F. Hoch Jr.
