Internships

The North Carolina Museum of History has numerous internships available for undergraduate and graduate students, recent graduates and young professionals. Each internship offers hands-on experience learning new or developing existing professional skills.

General Details

Details on our program vary from term by term, but here are some basic requirements.

Internships are within the curation, collections/conservation, education, marketing, editorial, and special events sections at the North Carolina Museum of History.

    Overall Internship Requirements
    1. Applicants must have at least earned a 2.8 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Some positions have higher GPA requirements.
    2. Applicants must have at least completed their first year of college before beginning an internship.
    3. Applicants must be willing to volunteer a minimum of 100 contact hours to receive credit in the museum internship program. Some positions require a minimum of 120 contact hours.
    4. Internships at the North Carolina Museum of History are unpaid, volunteer positions.
