Exhibition Admission

General admission

  • $10 Adults
  • $ 8 Students, senior citizens, active military personnel
  • $ 5 Children ages 5 to 12
  • Free Children ages 4 and under

Group Rates

  • $ 8 Adult groups (10 or more)
  • $ 5 Youth groups ages 5 to 18 (10 or more)

Admission is free for all North Carolina public, private and home school groups (10 or more school age students), including students, teachers, chaperones and bus drivers, courtesy of the SECU Foundation (funded by members of the State Employees’ Credit Union). The SECU Foundation is the primary education sponsor for the exhibition. Progress Energy has generously provided additional education sponsorship.

Admission is free for all other exhibitions at the N.C. Museum of History.

Directions and Parking

The museum is in downtown Raleigh, between the State Capitol and the Legislative Building, at 5 East Edenton Street. The main entrance faces Bicentennial Plaza pedestrian mall linking Jones and Edenton Streets. From the North or East: Take the Capital Boulevard exit off I-440 north of Raleigh. Follow the Capital Boulevard (Downtown) designation. Continue south approximately two miles and turn left onto Jones Street. Go three blocks. The museum is on the right. From the West or South: Off I-440, take the Person Street exit. Proceed north for two miles. Turn left onto Edenton Street. Go two blocks. The museum is on the right.

Parking weekdays in the Jones/Edenton Street lot for $1.00 per hour. Metered parking along Jones and Edenton Streets. Free parking on weekends.

Visitors in wheelchairs can enter the museum through the Fletcher Garden entrance, which faces Jones Street. Enter the building through the glass doors facing Fletcher Garden (look for the Liberty Bell replica). Take the elevators to the lobby level (L). Wheelchairs are available free of charge at the museum information desk.
