Home / Artifacts / Collections Management Section
The Collections Management Section is in charge of the museum's artifacts. The section's two branches document, store, and maintain artifacts according to professional and ethical standards.
The Registration Branch marks and records all artifacts entering or leaving the museum. The registrars complete legal paperwork, secure artifact loans and gifts, update the artifact database and research files, maintain insurance for the collection, and report on the condition of incoming and outgoing artifacts.
The Artifact Handling Branch handles and stores all artifacts and transports artifacts to and from the museum. The artifact handlers devise and build a wide variety of storage containers to ensure the safekeeping of the museum's diverse collection.
Each branch of the Collections Management Section helps prepare artifacts for exhibition, helps patrons access the collection and research files, and provides behind-the-scenes tours
