Make It, Take It: Army Dog Tags
Saturday, Nov. 7
1–3 p.m. (drop-in program)

Since World War II, soldiers have worn personal identification tags called dog tags. Visit the museum’s military history gallery and make your own dog tag to take home.

Time for Tots: American Indian Life

Learn about life of the first North Carolinians. Handle objects, listen to stories, and make a paper turtle rattle to take home.

Chat with Jeffries, a member of the Occaneechi tribe, as he crafts traditional weapons such as bows, arrows, and atlatls.

Fourteenth Annual American Indian Heritage Celebration

Enjoy music, dancing, storytelling, crafts, and more at this festival celebrating North Carolina’s American Indians.

Growing trees for the holiday season is one of North Carolina’s biggest industries. Find out how trees became a holiday symbol and create a decoration for your own tree. Presented with Cameron Village Regional Library.

Capitol Tree Lighting

6 p.m. (tree-lighting ceremony on the Capitol grounds)

Watch the annual lighting of the Capitol tree, listen to seasonal music, and come to the museum for hands-on fun!
