THJHA 2008 Contest Information
ADVISERS: THERE ARE CHANGES THIS YEAR. PLEASE READ THROUGH THIS CONTEST INFORMATION CAREFULLY.
THJHA clubs are encouraged to participate in the annual THJHA contests as a way to share what they have learned about North Carolina’s history and culture. All contest winners receive certificates or prizes. Be sure to use the current rules noted in this packet. To find detailed information on judging criteria, look in the THJHA Adviser Handbook © 2006. Please note:
1. There is ONE contest entry form that should be used for ALL contest entries, regardless of category. Please photocopy this form and fill out the copies for each student entry. A completed entry form must accompany each project your club submits for competition. Entries without a completed entry form will be disqualified.
2. All themed THJHA essays should be typewritten, in double-spaced format.
3. Student name and club name should appear on each page submitted.
4. Each entry should have an annotated bibliography citing all sources, including the Internet.
5. All contest entries and their completed entry forms must be postmarked by 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2008. All projects (except for Exhibit/Art Contest entries) arriving at the THJHA office after the postmarked deadline will be disqualified. Mail or fax (919-733-8655) Exhibit/Art Contest entry forms to the museum by the deadline. Art project entries should be brought to the history museum for judging at the Annual Convention on April 25, 2008.
