2009 Annual Convention Scenes

Rookie Chapter of the Year

The Tar Heel Junior Historian Association began the Rookie Chapter of the Year award in 1991 to recognize new junior historian chapters that exhibit enthusiasm for the association’s goals of promoting local and state history. The advisers of this year’s winning club have worked hard to plan activities, field trips, and guest speakers for the group that also helped students begin their projects for the THJHA Annual Contests. Club members say that they have learned a lot from working on the projects and are already looking forward to next year. The 2009 Rookie Chapter of the Year is Historical Happenings, Hearts and Hands Homeschool Group, Clayton, Michelle Coats and Beth Hunter, advisers.
