The North Carolina Museum of History has produced materials for students on women's history over the years; here are some of them. The following 500-word articles first appeared in the Raleigh News and Observer. The museum produces the series for fourth graders in cooperation with the paper's Newspapers in Education program.
This set of articles appeared in various issues of the Tar Heel Junior Historian* magazine, a publication geared for students in grades four through twelve (the articles are great background material for adults as well!). The museum produces two issues of the magazine a year.
*Since 1953, the Tar Heel Junior Historian Association (THJHA) has been encouraging the study of local and state history by North Carolina's young people. Students in grades four through twelve can form a THJHA club, as long as it includes one adult supervisor. Membership in the association is free!
