Speaker: John Horan, Oral Historian, State Archives of North Carolina
Join the NC Museum of History as we celebrate Women’s History Month by welcoming oral historian John Horan as he explores the She Changed the World Oral History Project. Listen in as the women interviewed share their memories of how they broke ground in the courtroom, classroom, and playing field. Through these interviews, find out how women have changed our world here in North Carolina. Learn about other resources on women’s history at the State Archives of North Carolina, as well!
John Horan is the oral historian at the State Archives of North Carolina. He is currently working on oral history projects that seek to illustrate the work on desegregation and integrating schools, on documenting the COVID-19 pandemic among state government employees, and on the American Indian experience in North Carolina. Furthermore, he works with community partners and stakeholders to ensure the historical record is filled with diverse and accessible voices. He received a master’s degree from Cleveland State University and is currently working on a doctorate from Arizona State University.
