Longleaf Film Festival

Film, Fun, and Community!

A free-to-attend festival that highlighted the best of independent film in a place that strives to tell the stories that connect us all—this was Longleaf, where we always knew that making films is making history. From 2015 through 2024, our weekend festival screened films that demonstrated a Tar Heel State connection, through the people involved in making them, their filming location, or through their subject.

The closure of the North Carolina Museum of History, Longleaf’s home base, for renovation means the folks who make Longleaf happen are all working to make the “new” museum as excellent as possible. Hence, the 2024 festival, our 10th celebration, was the last Longleaf Film Festival—at least, for the foreseeable future. Longleaf demonstrated that making films is making history through the 647 films shared and the dozens of enduring connections forged. Keep creating! We will be, too.
