American Red Cross: Healing the Warrior’s Heart through Art
The Red Cross of Eastern North Carolina, in honor of celebrating their centennial this year, partnered with the museum to open American Red Cross: Healing the Warrior’s Heart through Art.
The exhibit featured a collection of works created by wounded Marines. The Marines completed the artwork under the guidance of world-renowned artist and veteran Craig Bone as part of an art therapy program for USMC Wounded Warriors Battalion–East, based out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
This exhibit featured more than 20 paintings and three sculptures (two made of wood and one made of clay) that were created from that art therapy program, with each piece telling its own story.
