Did you know that North Carolina has its own Bill of Rights? This document has a dramatic story— it was stolen from the State Capitol by a Union soldier in 1865 and recovered in an FBI sting operation almost 150 years later!

Rarely removed from the State Archives’ climate-controlled vault, this artifact will be displayed in our small lobby case at the end of the exhibit, The Story of North Carolina, from June 29 through July 7, 2019. Don’t miss your chance to view this important piece of state history!
